You might be wondering: “If I am donating to the Annual Appeal, am I a Friends member?” Or, “Why am I asked to donate to the Annual Appeal each fall, after I have paid my membership dues?” Here is what you need to know: Annual Appeal and Membership contributions are different. The Annual Appeal campaign is a letter sent each fall to all members, as well as non-member donors. Gifts to the Annual Appeal are unrestricted. Annual Appeal fundraising augments the membership fund and supports a range of needs, from alarm monitoring to window washing
The mission of the Friends of Casa Feliz – to protect, operate and maintain the integrity of the Casa Feliz Historic Home Museum and its collections; to educate the public on the life and legacy of noted architect James Gamble Rogers II; and to engage the public through education and advocacy for the purpose of preserving and promoting the community's rich architectural, historic and cultural heritage – is timelier now than it ever has been. As a historic home museum, Casa Feliz stands as a beacon to historic preservation in Central Florida. Every person who steps through our doors, numbering more than 10,000 this year between our open houses and private rentals, leaves with an appreciation for the value of preserving our community’s architectural treasures. Our annual James Gamble Rogers II Colloquium on Historic Preservation is sponsored by the Friends of Casa Feliz, to recognize the importance of valuing and sustaining our community’s precious architectural and historic resources. We celebrate the legacy of architect Gamble Rogers (1901-1990), designer of Casa Feliz, now a home museum listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
A PERSONAL NOTE
Thanks to committed volunteers, generous donors, and a community that is interested in preserving the past, we have set the bar for restoring and preserving neighborhood assets. Our historic house museum is a one-of-a-kind gem. We host many visitors to Casa Feliz for educational programs such as the Sunday Music at the Casa, the popular Parlor Talk Series, and the Christmas at Casa annual family event – all at no charge to visitors. Your generous gifts to the annual fund make that possible. Venue rentals, while an enterprising revenue strategy, help pay for upkeep of the property, but proceeds don’t cover our mission-related expenses. We invite you to support our growth with a tax-deductible contribution. The smallest gifts can make a big impact.
