Parlor Series: The Railroad Station in American Life

Big-city monument or wood-frame depot, in pre-automotive America, anyplace that was anyplace had a railroad station. It was the place a farm kid could touch the Industrial Age, a place to see and be seen, and the place from which the Railway Express wagon delivered the wonders of the Sears catalog. For travelers to Winter Park, it was the portal to relaxation in the Florida sunshine. Railroad stations were often architecturally significant, too. Learn about these touchstones of American culture, past and present.

Presented by Peter A. Hansen, Editor, Railroad History

Reception at 6:30 pm. Lecture at 7:00 pm.

Free admission, donations welcome.
