guitarist – vocalist - composer
Born in Prague, the city of a hundred spires, fabulous gothic architecture and smoky jazz clubs, George has resided and played music on three continents, specifically in the U.S., Canada, Iceland, the UK, Israel and the Czech Republic. Educated at the Guildhall School of Music in London - where he often jammed with past and current Sting guitarist, Dominic Miller - and the University of Essex, George played with the Middle East Blues Band in Tel Aviv, Israel, with the chart topping group Kandis in Reykjavik, Iceland and has now been performing as a solo artist and with various bands in Toronto, Canada for the last couple of decades. He has recently relocated to Orlando and is now active on the Central Florida music scene. His 2010 CD “Europa”, recorded with his band, Bohemian Swing, has received wide airplay in Canada on the CBC and Toronto’s Jazz FM, as well as on some European radio station. The music on the CD is almost all original material and in a style close to George’s heart: a heady mix of jazz, French “chanson” and the intriguing harmonies of Gypsy Jazz. George and Bohemian Swing have recently played the Toronto International Jazz Festival, as well as countless other festivals and venues in Canada and the U.S.
In June 2012, George had the honor and the privilege to share the stage with jazz guitar legend, Larry Coryell. They performed one of George’s originals “Bohemian Blues” together.
George is currently working on two projects: an album of original jazz ballads and a tribute album to the late great New Orleans soprano saxophonist, Sidney Bechet.
