Museum Assistant - Part time (20 hrs/week)

Starting Salary $20/hour | In-Person

Position Summary
The Museum Assistant position offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career museum professional to gain practical, hands-on experience in museum operations, collections management, programming, and visitor engagement. Working closely with the Executive Director and other team members, the Museum Assistant will support a wide range of curatorial, administrative, and public-facing activities in a dynamic, collaborative setting.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate photography bookings, including client communication and scheduling

  • Assist with museum programming and events, including planning, setup, and day-of logistics

  • Serve as a docent and provide engaging tours to visitors, highlighting the architectural and historical significance of Casa Feliz

  • Help organize and install rotating art exhibitions in the museum’s upstairs gallery

  • Provide clerical and administrative support including filing, data entry, and correspondence

  • Assist with ordering supplies and coordinating small print jobs

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or current enrollment) in Museum Studies, Art History, History, Historic Preservation, Arts Administration, or related field preferred

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Friendly, professional manner with a genuine enthusiasm for engaging the public

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and major social media platforms

  • Ability to lift and move light objects and assist with event setup

  • Availability for occasional weekend or evening events
