Job Opening: Facilities Manager– Friends of Casa Feliz
Location: Winter Park, Florida
Reports To: Executive Director
Employment Type: Part-Time, on-site. 10-15 hours per week, with occasional possibility for extra hours.
Organization Overview
The Friends of Casa Feliz is a nonprofit organization devoted to preserving and promoting the Casa Feliz Historic Home Museum. Our mission is to maintain the architectural integrity of this historic landmark, educate the public on the legacy of James Gamble Rogers II, and advocate for the preservation of Winter Park’s cultural heritage.
Position Summary
The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of facilities management and maintenance at the Casa Feliz Historic Home Museum. Working closely with the Executive Director and reporting directly to them, the Facilities Manager ensures that the property, museum collections, and grounds are preserved, safe, and in excellent condition to support events, exhibits, and community programs.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Operations
- Lead planning and execution of facility and property maintenance in coordination with the Executive Director and the events calendar.
- Oversee upkeep and repairs for all physical aspects of the property including the historic house, landscaping, fountains, irrigation systems, site lighting, and hardscaping.
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Help hire, coordinate, and supervise vendors, contractors, and service providers for maintenance and repair needs (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, landscaping, custodial, roofing, carpentry, etc.).
- Coordinate bids for large jobs exceeding $5,000.
- Ensure compliance with safety and preservation standards for a historic site.
Collections & Exhibit Maintenance
- Working with Executive Director, conduct regular inspections to preserve the historical integrity of all displays, furniture and materials.
Collaboration & Oversight
- Working with Executive Director, plan and lead quarterly House and Grounds Committee meetings. Partner with Board members involved with the House and Grounds Committee.
- Participate in facility planning efforts and improvement initiatives in collaboration with executive and board leadership.
- Develop and maintain a House & Grounds manual that will list vendors and contractors and contain records of dates and descriptions of past repairs.
Qualifications
- Experience in facilities or property management; prior experience with historic properties or museums preferred.
- Ability to complete small home repair projects a bonus.
- Strong project management and vendor negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage maintenance operations with efficiency and attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of building systems (MEP), landscaping, and custodial oversight.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Compensation:
- Salary: $34 per hour
Additional Information
- Status: Non-exempt
- Bonus Eligibility: Annual discretionary bonus based on performance
- Probationary Period: First 90 days of employment
